Lilly’s Fresh Pasta supports the NPA on Capitol Hill

Feb. 14, 2019 – the National Wheat Foundation hosted its second “Wheat Value Chain” educational event on Capitol Hill. Through a partnership with the National Pasta Association, Lilly’s participated in the event to demonstrate how important wheat is to the economy and our food supply.

Held in the Senate Building on Capitol Hill, the purpose of the Wheat Value Chain event was to support wheat producers and to educate attendees about the important of the industry. Approximately 300 members of Congress and congressional staffers attended, as well as members of various agricultural committees.

The National Pasta Association (of which Lilly’s Fresh Pasta is a member) participated with an eye-catching pasta display to embody the event’s theme of “The Many Uses of Wheat.” According to Diane Welland M.S., R.D., Nutrition Communications Manager at the NPA, the goal was to represent a wide variety of pasta products and showcase several members of the association. Samples of our fresh pasta shared the stage with dried, filled, whole wheat, and organic varieties to demonstrate the many different ways we make use of the immensely important wheat supply chain.

Welland reported that the pasta display successfully drew attendees to the table and served as a great conversation-starter. We are honored to have supported the NPA at this event, and grateful to have been a part of it!
